- Review our What is a Personal AI Profile? Make sure to choose photos edited with one color profile.
- Organize your edited photos in folders on your computer. Imagen uses your original edited photos, not exported final JPEGs. Final JPEGs don't include edit metadata to create a Personal AI Profile.
Make sure the XMP files or edit metadata are in the same folder with the photos.
For DNG, JPEG, and TIFF photos, make sure you have the original edited photos with the edit metadata. This means that in Lightroom, the sliders have values.
If you don't see the XMP files or the edit metadata, see Exporting edited photos from Lightroom Cloud to your computer.
- If you are using an older version of Lightroom from before May 2024, export your metadata to your Local folder now.
- Go to the AI Profiles page. This link opens the AI Profiles page in the Imagen app on your computer.
- Click Create your own profile. Click Personal AI Profile and select your preferences. For more about JPEG compatibility, see our guide.
- Name the profile.
- Click Browse to select the folder with the edited photos you want to use.
- If you see Choose a Lightroom Classic catalog, in the top-left corner, under Where are your edited photos?, click Folder.
- Navigate to the folder containing your edited photos. Make sure that the XMP info from the edits is associated with the photo. For RAW format, make sure the XMP file is uploaded together with the photo. For DNG and JPEG formats, make sure the XMP information is embedded in the photos.
- Click Select Folder and click Upload. Photos are uploaded in DNG format, and the Adobe DNG Converter shows up in the status bar.
- While the photos from this folder are uploading, click Add Photos to add more photos to your profile. You can view the status of your uploads by clicking the Uploading button on the top right.

Common questions
How long does it take to create a Personal AI Profile?
Training usually takes up to 24 hours, and often finishes sooner. If it's been less than 24 hours, your profile is likely still in progress. Check back soon.
My profile has been "Analyzing" for more than 24 hours. What should I do?
Check your email inbox, including your Spam or Promotions folders. Imagen sends you an email when training completes or if there's an issue with your training photos. If you haven't received anything after 24 hours, contact support and we'll help you out.
Why didn't my profile finish training?
Training can stall when there's an issue with your photos. The most common causes are unedited photos in your training set, missing Adobe editing metadata, fewer than 2,000 valid edited photos, or inconsistent editing across your dataset. Review your training photos using the tips in What is a Personal AI Profile? and retrain your profile.
