After culling, if you want to review the photos in Adobe editing software instead of in Culling Studio, you can export the culling results and then sync your changes back to Culling Studio afterwards. Exporting the culling results from Culling Studio will overwrite any existing ratings in the Adobe apps.
If you are reviewing culling in Lightroom, make sure that your Culling Studio preferences are set to stars or flags. Lightroom doesn't support color ratings.
Export culling results to Adobe apps
- On the Projects page, find your culling project, and click Review culling.
- If you uploaded your photos from a folder, make sure your original folder is accessible and in the same location. If you used an external drive, connect the drive now.
- Click Export ratings.
- Choose the photos with the ratings you want to export. You can export all the photo ratings that are currently filtered or the whole project. In this example, the photo ratings are filtered to 3 stars, which are the Keeper and Standalone photos.
- Click Export. The metadata is exported to the folder or catalog where you uploaded the photos for culling.
- Click Open folder to see the files.
- Open the Adobe editing software, and browse to the folder where your culled photos are. In RAW files, ratings are in the sidecar XMP files. In JPEG, TIFF, and DNG files, the XMP info with ratings is embedded in the file. After your review, you import your changes back to Culling Studio and continue editing in Imagen.
Review the culling results and adjust ratings as needed.

- Click Import changes. There is a summary of the culling results and the metadata import.
- Click Edit <#> photos to continue editing in Imagen.
