The Imagen walkthrough helps you edit for the first time to get the most out of your free trial edits. We’ll take you through each stage of the walkthrough, from creating your first project to successfully reviewing your edited photos.
We’re slowly rolling out this walkthrough, so you might not see it yet.
Welcome
To begin the walkthrough, make sure you have some photos to edit. If you use Lightroom Classic, you need to import unedited photos into a catalog. Click Let’s go.
Start a project
An Imagen project groups your photos for editing. Type in a name for your project, and then click Continue.
Pick a photography type
Pick the photography type of the photos in your project.
Upload photos to edit
In this stage, you upload the photos to edit. To get the most out of your trial, we recommend splitting your free edits into at least two projects. Keep this in mind when uploading your photos.
Depending on your editing software, the flow for the upload changes slightly. Go to the flow that is right for you:
Upload photos from a Lightroom Classic catalog
- Make sure you have unedited photos in a Lightroom Classic catalog.
- Choose how to upload the photos. Pick your catalog from the list of recent catalogs, browse to it, or drag and drop the photos into the window.
The catalog opens.
- Choose the photos you want from the catalog. Depending on the file type your project was shot with, make sure you choose only RAW or only JPEG photos. Click Upload photos. The photos start to upload, and you see the progress.
- When the photos are uploaded, you created your first project.
- Click Start editing.
- Continue to Pick a base for editing.
Upload photos from Lightroom, Photoshop, or Bridge
- At the bottom left side of the window, click Choose photos and editing software.
The window changes so you can choose photos from a folder instead of a catalog.
- Browse to your photos, or drag and drop them into the window. Imagen shows the folder path of the photos you chose.
- Depending on the file type you shot with, choose either RAW or JPEG, and then click Upload photos. The photos start to upload, and you see the progress.
- When the photos are uploaded, you created your first project.
- Click Start editing.
- Continue to Pick a base for editing.
Pick a base for editing
- Click Pick a base to compare profiles from industry-leading photographers to use as a base for editing.
- On the left side of the window, select different profiles and compare them. At the top of the window, you can choose different sample photos to see how the profile works under different lighting conditions. Click the + sign to upload your own sample photos, if you like.
- When you find the profile you like as a base for editing, hover over its sample photo, and click Use to edit.
- Imagen uses the profile you chose to prepare edited previews of your photos, and you see the progress.
Tweak the base profile to fit your style
You can tweak specific settings in the profile to match your editing style.
There are two ways to make these changes: Correction or Fixed Value.
Here is the difference between them:
- Correction: Adjusts the value determined by Imagen. For example, in the Exposure area, if you set the correction to +0.20, the exposure will increase by 0.20 for all photos edited with this profile. The Correction adjustment is only available for the Basic and HSL panels.
- Fixed Value: Overrides the value in the profile to the value you set. The Fixed Value adjustment is not available for exposure.
To tweak the base profile to fit your style:
- You see your edited preview on the left. Adjust the settings on the right, and a preview with these changes opens. If you want to start over, click Reset all.
- Check these changes with other edited previews at the bottom of the window. When you are happy with the changes, click Apply tweaks. Your photos are sent for editing, and you see the progress. You can wait, or click Go to Projects to explore the Imagen app. We’ll send you an email when your edits are ready for review.
