How editing plans work
Pay-as-you-go: billing and base fee
With our pay-as-you-go plan, you have a monthly base fee and, after that, you only pay for the edits you use. One month after you subscribe to Imagen, we charge you the base fee and for the photos you edited that month. Going forward, you’ll be charged monthly on the same day each month.
If you don’t use Imagen enough to cover the base fee, it turns into credits. There are no refunds for our pay-as-you-go plan or for the credits.
Limitless: unlimited editing for individual photographers
For individual photographers who shoot their own work, we offer monthly and annual plans to enjoy unlimited editing and culling. It includes unlimited AI edits, AI tools and retouching, as well as AI culling. This plan isn’t available for teams.
- (Monthly plan) Your auto-renewal will be on the same day each month.
- (Annual plan) You pay for the year upfront, and your auto-renewal will be the same day on the following year.
Business: pricing for teams and studios
If you’re running a studio where multiple photographers shoot and edit independently under one account, you probably need our business plan. This plan includes multiple photographers and computers on one account, high-volume editing capacity, full API access, a dedicated success manager, and priority support. Contact our sales team to hear more.
How culling plans work
For Pay-as-you-go subscribers, you can have unlimited culling with a monthly or annual plan. For both plans, you are billed when you subscribe, and we waive the minimum monthly fee.
- (Monthly plan) We'll bill you monthly for culling, editing, and other charges in one invoice.
- (Annual plan) You’ll continue to get your monthly invoice for your edits and other charges.
Culling is included in the Limitless plan.
What are Imagen credits?
You use Imagen credits to buy almost whatever you need from Imagen and to pay your monthly charge. You can't use Imagen credits to buy an AI Profile since the seller gets proceeds from the sale. You also can't use Imagen credits to pay for a Limitless subscription since the credits were purchased at a discount.
Here’s how to get them:
- (Subscribers only) When you invite a friend to Imagen, we give you credits after they subscribe.
- Sometimes, a discount is higher than your monthly charge. In this case, we return the difference in credits.
- (Pay-as-you-go only) If you didn’t edit enough to cover the minimum monthly charge, we give you back credits for the difference. You can't use these credits to pay for the minimum monthly charge.
- You can buy credits upfront and then use them to pay your monthly charge. The more credits you buy, the more extra credits you get for free. Only relevant for pay-as-you-go customers and for monthly charges without a promo or discount.
AI tools and Cloud Storage: additional charges
How AI tools are charged
AI tools help you save time on cropping, straightening, smoothing skin, and other local adjustments. You add the AI tools best suited for the photos in each project, and you’re charged for them in addition to the editing.
AI tools in beta are free of charge. Feel free to use them as much as you like.
If you have a monthly flat-fee subscription, you can add as many AI tools to each project as your plan allows. AI tools that are in beta are not counted as part of your plan, and you can add as many as you like.
Cloud Storage: plans and pricing
Lightroom Classic users can automatically back up their photos with one of our Cloud Storage plans for an extra charge. For more about how Cloud Storage works, see our guide.

Who absorbs the conversion fees?
Imagen pays for the conversion fees.
What payment methods can be used to subscribe to Imagen?
Pricing, billing currency, and available payment methods vary by country. You can subscribe to Imagen with a credit card, by a transfer from a US bank, PayPal, or, if supported, Google Pay and Apple Pay.
When I update my payment method to buy something from Imagen, does that affect my subscription payment method?
You can only use one payment method at a time. If you switch your payment method, the new one will apply to all payments, including subscriptions.
What happens if my payment fails?
If a payment fails, you'll receive notification messages and have a 6-day grace period to update your payment method. We'll automatically retry charging your card four times per month. See What to do if your payment method is declined for more info.
